1st day: We will meet in the morning around 8:00 A.M. First stop of the day is a short visit to the old part of Konjic town. Konjic is known by The Old Stone Bridge, which connected the banks of Neretva river for centuries, since 1682. until WW2, when it was destroyed by German occupier, during the withdrawal of their troops. It was rebuilt in 2009, after being reconstructed as the original bridge and has been on the list of national monuments of BiH since 2003.
Next stop is Jablanica. As Bosnia was the scene of some of the fiercest battles between the Yugoslav Partisans and the Axis Powers during WW2. It’s a small town famous for its bridge and the Battle of Neretva where the Partisans managed to win a very unlikely battle. Nowadays, destroyed bridge still remains us as a symbol of wartime sacrifice and difficulties.
Later we will arrive in Mostar to enjoy in Red Bull Cliff diving. After the show, we will check in hotel and overnight.
“When you spend a night in Mostar, it is not the sound that wakes you up in the morning, but- the light. I know this from my own experience. It was the light that welcomed me when I arrived, it followed me from the morning to the evening, and when I left, that light forever stayed in me as the main characteristic of my memories of Mostar…”
Ivo Andric, Nobel Prize winner
2nd day: After breakfast we will check out from hotel and have a tour in Mostar where we will visit Kriva Ćuprija, the oldest arch bridge in Mostar. Hamam – Turkish bath, it is the only Turkish bath still existing in Mostar and one of the few remaining examples in the whole of Herzegovina. Visiting this location will give you the unique opportunity to take an immersive step “back in time,” engaging in an element of Mostar lifestyle that has been prevalent for centuries. Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque is the second biggest mosque in Mostar, whose original color and wall decorations have been preserved. Visitors are allowed to climb the minaret, which offers a panoramic view of the city and The Old Bridge.
Kujundžiluk – Old Bazzar, winds along a small, pretty, cobbled street, dating back to the middle of the 16th century, where characteristic crafts shops and traditional restaurants are found. In the past, it was the pulsing heart of the business world in the whole region with more than 500 workshops in the Ottoman era.
Next destination is Blagaj – a haven of peace and natural harmony. The Blagaj Tekke, or the Dervish Monastery, was built around 1520. The monastery is an important monument of the early Ottoman period in Bosnia & Herzegovina. The monastery has been used by the dervishes in order to perform special rituals and today they still perform Dhikr (praise to God). The Blagaj Tekke is situated by the spring of the river Buna, surrounded by beautiful mountains. In the silence of the Dervish house’s garden, cooled by the freshness of the wonderful river with the most spectacular view, you will understand why Blagaj was the focus of interest of historical personalities, Roman nobility, Ottoman viziers and kadis, Austro-Hungarian officers and many travelers searching for the freshness of the water, warmth of sun and blue skies.
