Nestled in the northeastern part of Sarajevo, Sedrenik is a suburb with a rich history. During the Bosnian War, it was on the front lines of combat. Today, it is surrounded by a belt of greenery, including coniferous forests and popular recreational spots like Barice, Čavljak, and Bukovik. First mentioned in written records in 1682, Sedrenik was largely uninhabited during Ottoman rule but began to see significant settlement after World War II.

Barice offers a spectacular view of Sarajevo, making it one of the city’s most popular recreational areas. This scenic spot is crisscrossed with walking and cycling trails, perfect for those who love nature. Visitors can also enjoy local specialties at several hospitality venues, making Barice an ideal destination for a day out.

Čavljak is a haven for nature lovers, with well-maintained hiking trails leading to the peaks of Sarajevsko Ozren, including Crepoljsko and Bukovik, as well as the natural monument Skakavac. Just a short drive from Sarajevo’s center, Čavljak offers stunning views of the city and its surrounding mountains. The area is also home to the Planinarski dom Čavljak, a mountain lodge where visitors can rest and refresh.

Located about 18 kilometres north of Sarajevo, Crepoljsko is a beautiful area with gentle slopes of Sarajevsko Ozren, surrounding the 1,524-meter peak. This region offers numerous routes for hiking, mountain biking, and walking, all set amidst dense coniferous forests. Those who climb to the top of Crepoljsko are rewarded with a fascinating view of the landscape surrounding Sarajevo. The area also features a mountain lodge with a small fishpond, making it perfect for families and nature enthusiasts.

Bukovik, at 1,532 meters, is the highest peak of Sarajevsko Ozren, located northeast of Sarajevo. The summit boasts a relay station and offers a spectacular view of Sarajevo and the surrounding mountains. On clear days, you can even see the peak of Mount Durmitor in Montenegro. The area around Bukovik is rich in pastures, coniferous and mixed forests, game, and rare bird species, making it ideal for hiking and mountain biking. A mountain lodge near the summit provides a place for nature lovers to rest and recharge.

Skakavac waterfall, the final stop on our Sarajevo ATV tour located 12 kilometres from Sarajevo above the village of Nahorevo, is a natural gem. With a height of 98 meters, it cascades into numerous small waterfalls, creating a misty veil that makes it one of the most beautiful and largest waterfalls in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
